Well, I know that over time, there will be a lot of the Statesmen Quartet posted, so I might as well get on with it. Here is an early release (1949) and only their fourth record to be released. Sometime in 1949, they signed to Capitol Records. All the while, they continued to release records on their own label. Anyway, information on the Statesmen Quartet is not that hard to locate online. For our purpose here, it is enough to know that this was a very early release by a quartet that would change the face of gospel quartet singing and be a supreme influence countless singers, including Elvis.
